I don't think that the RL's have the rebadged 240's. It was my understanding that the RXL's prior to this year had the 240's. If I remember correctly there was the DT Swiss part number on the end caps of the hub. I can't confirm this as I have upgraded to the RWS thru bolts on my '07 RXL's
ID Bontrager Race Lite/ DT240
I'm wondering if the set of Bontrager Race Lites I got used recently are DT240.
I think the wheelset is a few years old, but it's hard to say. Are there any identifying features about the DT240s that would set it apart from the fake ones used on newer Race Lites?

Race lite, mine 2006, use the onyx hub's.
Some of the Bonty-labeled hubs are 240's and you can easily identify them by the distinctive shape of the hub shell. Look up a photo of the 240s and you'll know.
Only the RXLs were ever 240 based.
The Race Lite switched to the DT Onyx type hub and FH Body in 2003 as I recall...it used the "star ratchet" from 2000-2002 (CK hub in 1999).

Pull off the drive shell and look for star ratchet. You don't need to take cassette off as it will help get a grip. Might as well clean and lube it if'n it needs it also.
So if they were the Onyx hubs, they wouldn't be compatible with the 36 pawl engagement upgrade?
Are the 340's what the onyx used to be? Maybe they are what the 370s are now which are not star ratchet engagement. I guess I'm not sure the onyx hubs use the star rachet. What about there all mountain bontrager rhythm's? Are they a dt-swiss hub?

The DT Onyx hub is not a star ratchet like the 240 or 340. The new 370 is now the replacement for the Onyx hub.moishlashen said:Are the 340's what the onyx used to be? I have a 2003 Bontrager manual showing the change from the star ratchet to 3 pawl system in the 2003 Race Lite hub if anyone is interested.
