All the discussions on the different disciplines of mountain biking.

I go this tidbit of info straight from the Magura "Workshop 2009" manual.

Apparently, they are all pretty much the same. The notable difference seems to be you can only use a backpack if you are riding AM, or XC provided it isn't an XC race.

I never thought to just grab a couple wheels instead of a whole bike
Legs as swing-arms and arms as forks - GENIUS!! so much cheaper!

Freeride and XC Race are the most gnar of the bunch. They're the only ones able to get both tires off the ground.

Is downhill officially dead?
Magura doesn't have a DH fork, hence no downhill.

I want to know when XC races started being held only on a slight downhill grade?

I'm even more confused now than before. :eek:ut: Maybe I'm just too stupid.

Apparently AM is uphill only. Don't know about you, but that would totally suck a$$. Sure makes the whole debate about "What is AM" riding seem really stupid now.

I'm changing my style to XC Race. They have hover bikes! How cool is that!

I finally figured out the difference between XC and AM. Water-bottle braze ons.
Hmmm... I don't see anywhere to place braze-ons. Perhaps Magura is implying the need for strap-ons rather than braze-ons. If that is indeed that case, who has bigger (or more) strap-ons - XC or AM??? :eekster:

It's hard to tell from the picture, but XC-race dude is actually landing a 15' drop to transition.

What the picture really doesn't tell, however, is that he had to lay it sideways to miss the giant floating stop-watch.
