alright heres the deal
i ride a giant ac
its a fun bike
i want to get a new bike but not sure what to get
im looking at the FOES Racing 2:1 DHS MONO
im not making any quick decision because im only 14 and without a job, it takes awhile to save up 3-4000 dollars.
so should i save up for the FOES or would you recommend something else?

If you are a poor 14 year old kid why buy one of the most expensive bikes made? Or are you going to buy a used one in 2009 when you save enough $$$

Look into buying a used bike, if you have to go new buy something cheaper like a complete rig from one of the big names like Giant or Specialized


Just out of curisity how many cups of lemonade does it take to buy a fresh DH bike?

no i have ways...
i can work for companies like RUV motorsports
or my grandparents that own a business
its time thats a problem...
almost 4000 will take a year or two at least
but who know maybe my parents and or grandparents will match half of the price
and i wouldt get a bike like the FOES in hope it wont break as much so i save $ in repairs

im not familiar with foes, but Im guessing you want a dh specific bike? Is there something wrong with going used? I know I was 14 only two years ago, but still thats pretty young to be spending a lotta money on a bike that you will be growing out in a few years inless you get a big bike. Mabe an Ironhorse would be good?

they have the crazy bike
it has 10 inches of rear travel
i mean if i have to ill just wait until i snap my AC frame
my AC is a great bike though
and i havent decided if i want the Giant DH TEAM
for 5500
or the FOES 2:1 DHS MONO
for 3199
and yea i do downhill and jumping

why do you have your heart set on a dh specific bike, I would go with something along the lines of a vpfree, personaly, Because you are still able to do lots of dh but it also is freerideable, just my .02, I think that at the age your at right now you will get tired of only dh after a while

thats all i can do with my surroundings for the most part
and i wanna get a good bike...

bad advice....you stop riding. just ride that thing till it folds in on itself and see what the 'rents can give you to continue your riding!

dont take advantage of your grandparents generosity, buy a used bike, you can get a sweet deal on a sweet bike and still afford to grow out of it

A vpfree to me feels like a pillow....Theres lots of options dont get set on the foes just yet, I know my views on riding change alot and unless I have a freeride bike I wouldnt want a dh specific one. I think this is nice http://www.ironhorsebikes.com/7POINT3.html

you really dont need a foes. the AC's can take a fair amount of abuse. a friend of mine has like a 2006 ? its green and came with a splice. he put a kingpin on it and uses it as a backup FR bike. if you want to get something a little better, get a used stab or something. you really dont need a foes at your age. plus...if it gets stolen, you'll just be that much more pissed.

Don't save up for a car! When I was your age(11-12 years ago) I had 10+ riding buddies living near me then they all needed cars and never touched a bike again. Now half of them regret ditching riding. Riding bikes just gets better as you get older and make more $$ to afford trips and parts.

i can make 80 bucks a day at the minimum
so maybe ill get an ironhorse
or mayube ill get a foes

Take your time with this decision, I dont know if you have a popular riding spot around you, but hopefully you can see thoes bikes that your interested in at that place and hopefully get to ride them, Personaly Ive just never felt really comfortable on a kona

thet foes 2:1 dh mono is $3000 for the frame alone. so its gonna cost a lot more that a4000 for the bike.

Buy a used race bike that's in good condition. Building a bike and buying compatible parts is a lot harder than you'd think, plus it'll save you a LOT of money.

Consider something like a Specialized SX Trail, or other bikes that are very very fast yet can also dirtjump and do XC.
