I need a shoe recommendation, BUT...

I need ones that actually cover the ankles! I'm tired of bashing my ankle bones but for some reason I can't seem to find any high-top or mid-top mtb shoes. Do they even exist? Any help is greatly appreciated, and yes they must also be clipless compatible. I did actually manage to find these...the SH-MT52 by Shimano but thats it.

Any other suggestions??

I would buy nice regular shoes and look somewhere else for ankle protection. I'm sure you can find something better if you look outside the box.
I totally dig the help guys but yeah, I'm not really into the winter shoes as I'll be using these during the summer as well and I don't live in a super cold climate anyway. I was hoping there would be some more "regular" cycling shoes out there that just came with a bit more ankle support/protection. The stuff from Lake is okay but a little funky for my taste.

limba...not sure what you mean by "looking outside the box" but if you're talking about external ankle brace or guards I'm not really into that either as it would be a bit overkill for me. I do appreciate the suggestion though.
Maybe look at other sports where guys get whacked in the ankles. I'm sure there has to be some kind of lightweight protection you could wear like a wristband or something.

Cool! That's more in line of what I'm talking about. Great looking shoe but Performance only has them in up to size 40. Did some searching around online for them but am starting to think this is a discontinued shoe? Seems like the very few places that carry them only have a couple (and small) sizes left. Bummer! :(
what size are you looking for?? I"ll keep my eyes open for you.

AM 50 is discontinued. I asked Shimano several months ago when I had a customer looking for a pair.
Yeah,
A lot of the shoes at Performance and Nashbar are discontinued and in the midget only sizes.

Rarely do I find what I'm looking for in the moderate sasquatch size I need.

Either 46 or 47. Thanks!
