Rather than spend phenomenonal amounts of money on 2 and 4 ounce containers I decided to just buy a gallon of it do use on my bicycles motorcycles and products. I found it lubricates well stays clean doesn't flying off and doesn't attract dirt and grit.
I want a container that will be somewhat easy to fill from the gallon and will work really well to apply it to my chains. But also will not allow it to go to waste or dry up in the application container. What are your recommendations what have you tried? Thank you

I used the dupont teflon multi use lube on motorcycle chains. Stuff was great! Currently use finish line dry lube on bikes and love it but may change back to the Dupont now that I read this.
Sorry but I don't have any good suggestions for an application method for the gallon size.

I have used a number of moto and bike specific lubes along with non specific/multi purpose lubes.
I like the fact that so far the Dupont stuff seems to work and stay clean. I wipe the chain, pulleys and ring well after I spin the crank around a number of times to disperse the lube while wet, in and on the chain.
I have not tried Maxima chain wax yet I do not think.
But I find it disturbing to pay $2 to $10 a ounce for something to use on a chain!
$41/0.32 a ounce for a gallon of DuPont Chain saver seems to comparatively be a bargain.
The best internal combustion engine oil
Is a steal compared to moto and bicycle marketed lubes.
One of the best working but somewhat dirty and on the difficult side to remove is automotive gear oil! It last and is QUIET, and is PRACTICALLY FREE compared to moto and bicycle marketed lubes!
Are you currently using the red bottle Finish Line?
What do you like and dislike?
Where do live and what kind of environment?
I like the idea of the dry lubes but I found they wash of too easy and wear off too fast.
Good riding to us both!

Good idea, chain lube is truly overpriced....

Best applicator i've used is the Muc-Off, has long nose...truly great.

In your case I would be tempted to try something like this, just fill with funnel.

True that prices on stuff like that are silly high but still relatively low compared to everything else involved. If I could get exactly what I want for pennies on the dollar I would but I'm kind of picky about running a clean & quiet drivetrain so $40 for a giant bottle of my favorite (squirt) seems like a bargain. Probably will last me a couple of years and I'll save a ton of time over that period because I don't have to do any drivetrain cleaning.

Pint of r&r extreme is $19 on Amazon. Just over a buck an ounce but as a cleaner lube I go through it pretty quickly. I’m always looking for alternatives but feels like were close to the cost of the solvents.

Good thing about cleaner lubes is chain stays clean, but downside it doesn’t last long at all. In my experience the thicker non drying lubes are too difficult to clean which hugely hurts chain life, at least here in rainy pnw.

i rode a motorbike for about a decade, the chain was double sealed and essentially unlube-able, so wondering what exactly this DuPont stuff is.

So… is it a cleaner lube? Drizzle it on then wipe it all away?

Yes. Using the red bottle. Ride mostly dry conditions. Not super dusty. Usually avoid rain/very wet rides but usually encounter wet sections during ride on even the driest days. Live in Western NC.
Drivetrain stays super quiet, clean and smooth.

The way I use Chain Saver is as a lube only. I clean with inexpensive cleaners recommended by chain manufactures like Kerosene, diesel, gasoline...sometimes in my ultrasonic cleaner or for a quick clean on the bike spray with lowest price brake cleaner, and cardboard between the chain and bike/wheel. Depends on what I have and my mood, or time.

I used to do that - soaked chains in kerosene or diesel, scrubbed, then relube. Color me surprised the first time I used a 'cleaner lube'.

If you've not tried one it is a giant leap in quality of life.

Is where I bought mine.
I just got some good information from the manufacture. The Dupont Chain saver( made byFinish Line) Finish Line dry lube and Dupont Mult-Use lubes are made by the same company but they are three different products. The Chai Saver product and finish line dry lube product are good dry lube for chains. the DuPont Multi-Use(black plastic bottle mostly blue and white back ground) is a good lubricant and also good for shock and for stanchions or seat post dropper seat post. Where as the C.S. And F.L. Dry should NOT be used for dropper post or suspension. Dries seals out.
The F.L. Dry has a little more rust resistance an durability, but is dirtier. The dirtier part is a big concern, due to not wanting to turn the chain lube into a grinding paste.
Because of this Chain Saver will be my go to lube until something better at a reasonable price replaces it.
Listen to your drive train, when it gets noisy it needs cleaned and lubed! Before that point, the lube is too gone at that point.
