I went out to the local trail, about 20 minutes away with Dirt Devil. less than a minute into trail my pedal comes apart. I had known it was loose, but hadn't bothered to fix it, my dumb mistake. We bundle back into the car, back home replace the pedals, and back to the trail.

We did a quick seat adjustment, and I was trying it out, when my freewheel went out. This time I didn't even make it out of the parking lot. It's off to the LBS, where we get a quick replacement of the freewheel. Back to the trail, and third time lucky, we get maybe an hours ride before it's too dark.

Halfway through the ride it occurs to me that I have a geared bike sitting at home ready to go. It never even crossed my mind to go back for it.

It was hillarious, in the middle of the trail I heard someone laughing. When we met at the end of the section he mentioned that to me, it was pretty funny.

He owns a Fuji Outland that was converted due to a broken dropout that couldn't be found and in the mean time got a geared bike.

Since the Fuji was converted it has been his main ride. He's been thinking of getting a new frame with EBB for a while, let's see if he considers selling the geared.
