I hate UPS

:madmax: I am so p*ssed right now. My new Lynskey Cruiser finally showed up after making it Canada only to be reshipped back to the US to be held in Customs just before Christmas. Then when I open the box take off all the foam packing I find that something has been dropped on it to result in a paint chip and possible dent. Now it will be probably be another 2 weeks to get back to Tennessee and then another 2 weeks back up here. I' am soooooooooo choked right now.:madmax: :madmax: :madman: :madman: :madman:

insurance?
That sucks but at least you can board an airliner with explosives in your pants and make it all the way to the USA. You have alittle time before riding season starts unless your nuts and ride in the cold. I
I posted too quick. I hope everything works out for ya.
Good news is when dealing directly with a salerep at Lynskey, you can talk to them afterhours on there blackberry. They have been informed and they are sending out a RA # to me tomorrow and picking it up on Monday. They said they will deal with UPS over the insurance claim.
Sorry to hear this. They are just messing with you Canucks on Christmas but don't worry...Lynskey will make it right in short order.

I just ordered a roadie frame (Roubaix S-Works) and told the shop to NOT ship it to my house. I can't stand the stress anymore...just call me when that bugger arrives. Same thing with my SS a few weeks ago- ship it to mtnhighcyclery please. I can't take the daily tracking and waiting. :)

Well I've been waiting since late Sept....so I was getting pretty excited that the bike would show up to join its sister the 5spot for Christmas. Sigh......now I gotta wait for the bike to make it back stateside, and then hopefully they can paint up another frame while its in transit. I'm just frustrated......Lynskey has been awesome to work with, much more detail oriented then some of the other manufacturers I've dealt with. Just ticks me off that I've got 6K on the credit card held in limbo and no bike for probably another month.
Damn, your wait is brutal. Maybe buy something else real quick that will get there quickly.:)
Just thank god it wasn't FedEx.

These were suppose to be my last 2 bikes like forever. In fact I will be finally parting with 3bikes/frames and I never let any of my babies go.

I actually thought about buying a superfly on clearout just to cheer myself up.:p

I've had 7 bikes in 3 years shipped via fed-ex, never had issues with frame damage, but there customs brokerage house gives me grief everytime and my bikes sit in limbo for many a day with them as well.
sounds like business as usual for UPS.
plus the insurance battle... good thing Lynskey is dealing with that.
I think it's more a pissing match between US/Canada boarder patrol. I've shipped other items besides bikes across the boarder, and had all kinds of issues with both carriers.
There's no winning with any shipper. I had UPS damage a heavily buttressed steel frame I shipped to a guy in Salt Lake a few years ago. Of course, "the frame wasn't properly packaged". The only way it could have been boxed better is if it was in a steel crate.

I received my Vassago Fisticuff a few weeks ago with a damaged seat tube care of FedEx. Luckily the LBS straightened it out. I got the frameset on the black friday deal so it wasn't worth my coin to pay to ship it back to Vassago. I e-mailed Vassago to let them know what happened and never heard anything back. Color me rather unimpressed with their CS so far.

Finally, I sold a saddle on ebay at the beginning of December and it either got lost, stolen, or I'm being taken for a ride. The buyer says he never received it and since I didn't pay extra for delivery confirmation I'm going to be out the money and saddle. No winning sometimes.
I was actually amazed how perfect the box was when my Vassago showed up the other day. Never having shipped or received a bike from fedex before I was surprised. Sucks you got a damaged one.

Just shipped a frame via UPS and packed the hell out of it, well see if they try to crush it. Just a Surly frame, if UPS damaged a Lynskey that was to be mine I would be pretty mad:madmax:
Your first mistake was to paint a ti frame:p

Sorry to hear about it, hopefully it resolves itself painlessly....

Ha waiting neophyte! some of us have been waiting since mid-September for our Cannondale Flash carbon 29ers with no word on when if ever they will arrive.

anyway sorry about the bungled shipping hopefully you'll get it all straightened out in the end and as someone who buys and sells a bunch of stuff on eBay it's always smart to deal with FedEx rather than UPS who has screwed up more things than they have gotten right.

if at all possible i try to avoid having items shipped to my house i'll have it shipped to my work office some how the home delivery FedEx and UPS guys seem to be pretty abusive and i've had boxes that look like they were thrown up to my front door.

it is nice that lynskey is going above and beyond in their customer service for you when it really wasn't their fault that the bike was damaged.
