Am I the 1st guy to walk into a cosmetic place to buy touch up nail polish for my frame? The sales person did not say a word and she was very helpful, maybe this is a common thing people do.

FYI, I had a spare frame of the same color, so i did not really bring the whole bike into the shop, only the frame.

Found a color that was very close.

If it's a deep enough scratch I will use a clear polish otherwise I do not worry about them. It's a bike and it gets ridden almost daily so I am not going to worry about every nick and scratch it gets.

I used nail polish on chipped carbon clear coat once. I bought the most hyped stuff in the cosmetic aisle, diamond hard etc etc. in black. it worked stopped clear from delaminating but dried super thin so took too many coats.

In years since I’ve discovered gflex 650 epoxy which is much stronger and tougher, can actually fill and repair with it.

No, except for a classic custom with special paint never used like you can ride and how trails are today. MTBs and skis are consumables where you treat them like you're dating Miss or Mister America.

I have been using nail polish for more than 50 years to touch up my vehicles and my bikes. Mostly I use the clear polish which is a lacquer paint and the bottle and brush make it easy to put a small amount on a nicked area and prevent oxidation and rust.

Were you expecting to be treated anything other than a customer buying what you're asking for? Do you know what else people ask for in nail salons? Sheesh LOL.

I was going to take my bike into a decal shop to see if they could match the paint to cover up the advertisements (I don't like words on my vehicles) but found my own decal that's an almost perfect match... still thinking of bringing it in to see if they can do better than me.

Walking the mall by me with a bike frame is an oddity, Nail salon I would think I would turn heads. I have not been in a hair salon in 20 years, so to me it was strange(i am bald). Mountain biking not the most popular sport where i am.

She didn't say anything to YOU ...

... but the phone call to Becky after her shift "Becky like ohmygod you'll never believe this guy that came in today!!!! He wanted nail polish ... for his BICYCLE!!!!!!" 😛 😁

I hear ya on the steel though. Never thought to stop in a nail salon, but now that you mention it that might be a good place to score a date.
