A riding bud from Seattle, known as MrBlinn around here, was down in the desert for some new years relaxin. Lucky for him he shipped the Flux down to play. For this trip the stars aligned for some higher elevation riding in Idyllwild's May Valley, AKA Hurkey Creek, about 40 minutes above the desert floor... he'd never been up there so it was on. Riding conditions and weather were primo, even at 5000'... gotta love SoCal. He brought along the D70 and we weren't in too big a rush so some photo geeking was in order...

Love Hurkey Creek. Took my son camping there last year, been dying to get back, but thought it was too cold. Your post makes me reconsider....

Usually I think there is snow this time of year. What they had gotten melted. The conditions were great and are probably better today, since it was a little muddy down on the course. It was in the high 50's, 60's in the sun.

We camped at Hurkey Creek campground, there is a 10 mile course that the 24hours of Adrenaline race uses.

It is the one you are thinking of.
