Awright. This is why we live in the Yay Area. Could the weather and trail conditions be any more perfect?

What did you do last weekend and what you doing this week?

Any government workers out there with a holiday today?

Killer weekend!

Rode Saturday morning in Shell Ridge and Mount Diablo. 13 or so miles. Went to Hardly Strickly Bluegrass Festival in SF and saw some killer music. Pine Leaf Boys played some killer zydeco (SP?).

Sunday played domestique for the GF who ran the Rock n Roll half marathon. What a fun race - lots of great bands all over the place. I am sore - I ran mile 10-11 with her, and that's all I could take! Boy, am I a sissy!

Rode Shell Ridge/Mnt D again yesterday evening - another 13 or so miles.

BBQ'd some steaks.

Couldn't ask for a better weekend!

Saturday at Demo with the group was awesome. Probably the fastest I've been down those trails and I was still way behind. Those guys were flying.

Got the day off, but I'm sitting at home waiting for the Sears man to show up. Maybe I'll sneak over to Montebello for a dry run of Saturday.

No holiday for me today but had a lot of fun yesterday along with the family.

Pepe did a road and mtb race and I did a SS race. The kid finished 3rd on both and was exausted by days end and I finished 5th on the Open SS class which the SS National Champion was crowned (he's also the UCI Masters champion).

Road

MTB

SS

It was a long hot day but at the end everyone was happy.

I am a recent semi-transplanted Yay area-ite. I am a government wanker. I rode some short, but very sweet, single track that is very close, in an undisclosed location.

Being a government employee, I am open to bribes.

Finally back on the bike after slowly recovering from the injury - albeit on a road bike. The weather was just too good to stay indoors and I had a great time cruising around on both Saturday and Sunday.

More good weather and great riding to come this week.

Roadie ride

Grizzly Century out of North Fork, which is near Bass Lake (southwest of Yosemite). 100 miles and 10,000 ft on beautiful Sierra roads - including a twisty 3500 ft descent. T shirt, quiche breakfast, sushi and baklava at rest stops, tri tip, chicken, and ribs bbq afterward. Arguably the best century ride in California. The townfolk put on a great show.

Nice man. Roadie and Mountain. That little Pepe is lucky to have good parents.

I got your email about Sea Otter. Let me check it out and respond later.

Beaverbiker was there, didn't see much of him except for the stops and to see him launch a roller on Braille. Nice guy and a fellow Cal Poly grad. Funny to talk about the trails I was riding in SLO back in the early 90s.

Also, Stalk, Tsimbu, DrWheelz and another guy that we ran across that I didn't get his handle.

It was a really nice day to be on the trails.

P.S. Forgot about Whiteyak, who traveled all the way down from Whistler to ride the local trails. He was a really good rider rocking the trail on a steel hardtail with long travel fork and some seriously meaty tires. I think he realized you only need tires like that in BC. Francis I volunteered you to be a tour guide for him at UCSC. :)

That guy was probably me. Sorry for not introducing myself I was in my "solo ride" mode. I ended up climbing Sulpher when you guys went up Tractor. The rain did Demo well! :)

Nice to meet you. No worries as I was in "go as fast as I can and not kill myself, but keep everybody in site" mode.

Great weekend

I logged more miles and put in more feet of climb in two days between my MTB and Road bike then any two days of my 44 years ! WOW :eekster:

With baycat's MTB Gg2mb 10/7 and Sean's road ride to the coast

94 miles
10,793 ft of climb

Here are the Motion Based links to both rides.

Ahh cool. I hate you and Rensho now. Hope y'all had a great time doing double rides.

I drove to Salinas. I drove to Antioch. I spent hard-earned money on a minivan. I had expensive dinners then drove to Salinas again.

Great Demo ride on Sat, like Derek mentioned. It was fastest ride down I can recall. Was it rain or new fork or new tire, probably all of above.
I'm trying Small Block8 on the rear and compare to standard Nevegals this tire just fast. On the corners I'm not getting wobbling of the long knobies, but solid grip.

Finished Sunday with quickie in FO, riding is perfect.
