Creakin' huh? I would be interested in a few pictures of the bottom bracket threads if you plan to service it...

It's fairly easy, a torque wrench may be needed if you're not sensitive and you'll need a hollow tech 2 spanner tool. The crank is released by loosening the non-drive side's crank arm bolts... standard hollow tech 2 service guide will cover it. Just google for a tutorial or how-to, they're around.
