I recently purchased an entry level Iron Horse Maverick Trail. I have a new set of Shimano Deore LX shifters and a new cassette and chain to make it a 9 speed but I'd really like to lighten the bike up by a few pounds. Does anyone has an idea or two with regards to component changes that would help. The bike is all stock right now including the grip shifters and the manually adjustable rear shock. Thanks Wardie

It gets expensive, but wheels are usually the best place to start.

If you can go to one ring in the front and get rid of the front deraileur and shifter that helps too.

Might be able to pick up half a lb in the seat and post.

There might be a lb in the fork... and 1/4 lb in the bars vs (FSA carbon).
