I just bought back my old 1991 GF Supercaliber and needed to replace the sealed BB bearings. I reinstalled the new bearings, but now the BB is creaking. So, I just wanted to know the proper procedure for installing the GF pressed in BB.

Thanks

Not much too it.

Well the proper proceedure requires specialized tools but they aren't necessary.
All you really need is a hammer and either some PVC pipe or some scrap wood.

I would guess that the squeeking is comming form the spindle-bearing interface. I would knock the spindle out and put some grases on it.

that's how i installed it. i did wonder about the spindle to bearing interface. it did not seem as snug as i thought it should be. i will disassemble and grease it.

thanks

It appears there is too much play between the new bearing and the spindle. i am going to take it back apart and use loctite to get the spindle and bearing to bond.

Any other suggestions?
