how to disassemble 09 race x lite rear hub?

I need some help.

My wifes rear hub is making an awful popping noise when she engages the rear hub.

I am having trouble getting the rear hub open.

I am assuming you use an axle vise to pull the hub open similiar to a DT Swiss 240 but I cannot for the life of me get the thing to open up.

What am I doing wrong??

Also there is ply in the cassette body, it will slide on the axle slightly.

It is a new race x lite rear wheel. Anyone have any expierence with these?

They came with too much grease in the freehub. If you can get it off, remove ALLLLL the grease. If the pawls are scratched and it still pops, Bontrager will provide you with a new wheel.

I could not even get the freehub off the old wheel. You are suppose to be able to get it off by hand by pulling off the end caps, but I need to use a wrench to pull it off (on the new wheel I got, it comes off.)

New wheel works fine. But, it was still popping before I removed the grease.
thanks for that info.

I cannot get the end caps off at all, even with an axle vise.

I will take it back to the shop.

The shop probably won't be able to get it off either. My shop wasn't able to (I work there).
thanks, i am really more interested in them just dealing with getting a new one under warranty.

If they try to fix it I probably will not accept it if I cannot get the end caps off normally in the future.

Thanks again for the help.
