Ok got another pickle.

On another thread I started, I got my son a 2009 Trance X3. Now that's a done deal.
Was planning to keep the Wahoo and we can just switch bikes every other time we head out as we are the same frame size anyways.

But .... it looks like I may be able to put together enough $$$ to get another bike. Same dealer has a 2010 Trance X2 but it's marked at $2,500 which is over what I intend/hope to spend on my bike.

Since I'm getting the X3 from them anyways, {buying 2 bikes in 1 day} I'm planning to haggle on the X2 to see how low I can get it for. What would you suggest is a good price to peg it at without sounding insulting :nono: This LBS has been very helpful and heard good stuff about the owner so have my fingers and toes crossed.

They also have 2010 Trek EX8s in 17.5" marked down but leaning towards the X2. The EX8 has one too many moving parts for my taste but I have to admit, it's an amazing bike.

I've tried both bikes and surprisingly, both frame sizes, 16" for X2 and 17.5" for EX8, fit me well.

Oh on another note, Giants seems to still have 6 2009 Trance X0 in 16" but another LBS told me they can only go down to $3,000. Now if it was $2,500 I may seriously consider it :madman:

Thanks guys. Looks like $2.2k is a good price to shoot for. Heck if I don't get the deal, the EX8 is a fall back which I possibly can get for $2k even.

Ya, and specs plz.

The only specs I've seen are from the German Giant site (Maestro Reloaded) and their X3 is almost exactly the same as X2 with the exception of Elixir R vs Elixir 5. What they show as X4 is very similar to the X3 in the U.S.

Am very intrigued by this ............

Well did another test ride on the 2010 Trance X2 and I'm sold. It just feels good. And the 16" fits me really well. LBS is willing to give another 5% so down to $2375. Now it's up to me to get the $$$$ together

I'd push even further for a discount, my LBS give me 20% off msrp, but than again I'm a IMBA bike patroller. Keep pushing the shop, you can always be like im gonna go to another shop, make sure you do it while showing them a wad of cash.

Reconsider

Sounds like you made up your mind on the trance but you should call up few other LBS to get them to give you their best quote or ask them if they can come down to your price. I got my new 2010 EX 8 for way less than $1700. Very very happy with it.

I can only wish I can get an 2010 EX8 for that price. Oh yeah I've called all local LBS and none of them have any in my size. To me, if I drive 2-3hrs to go to an LBS, that's not so local to me. I'm all for supporting a shop that's really local (to me)

But I still hope my LBS would still come down in price
