does anyone know how low a marzocchi can be lowered?

like, is there a max a certain fork (a vf, not rc) can be lowered? or does it just depend on how low you you cut the spings?

specifically a dj1w/ am3 iternals. i want to lower it another 30mm to 60.

thanks

Isn't a DJ 1 four inches? Why would you want to go lower than that? Maybe next you will be getting some hydros front and back and a murial of a naked Aztec princess on the back with some 100 spoke triple gold wheels :).

thank you helpful poster.
Well it's true. If you really want a short fork, get a 2001-2002 Z1 20mm, then you can add like 3 inches of negative spring and some 80mm positive springs, you'll probably get like 60-70 mm travel with absurd preload. It would still be enough to save your wrists if you land in the flat. Plus a '01 z1 only weighs 4.5 pounds.

At such a low ride height it'd still be stiff, 30mm stanchions and all.

...and because someone else with a different bike thinks his fork is too high, your fork must be too? What?? So, I hear it's really easy to tell just how the bike feels with the current fork when you have very little ride time on it. Seriously, if you're going to chop a fork down past 80mm, why not just go rigid? (then if you're going rigid, why not go with a BMX bike, or a street trials setup?) Not trying to insult you, but I think sometimes people ought to think for themselves. Anyhow, that's a real nice looking bike you've got.

So, do YOU think it is too high? Or do you want it lower because Will thinks HIS is too high? Why don't you actually get some dirt & sweat on that bike before trying to change it? Are you that bored?
no, it felt fine on the specialist when it was 90...

but on the nemesis, it feels too high. I REALIZED THIS BE MYSELF on the ride home from the bike shop today. i was just pointing out that redbulol mentioned that he thought that as well, and wants a sherman jumper.

and i have ridden a blown rockshocks psylo 40mm travel and bottomed on everything and i was alright, this fork at 60 will be fine. i just wanted to know if it was possible.

JJ, seriously, you've got a great looking bike, now just go ride it and take some pics. And quit calling everyone on MTBR beyotches, we know you got the bike, we know it was expensive, we are all humbled by your build kit & ability to get new goodies, like the Razr phone and video cameras...now try humbling us with your dj/urban progression  - that will be worth more than any other hard to come by undergroud dj/urban components...
man when we are showed up like that then we should be called biathches.......JBSox is whipping our @$$es...you da man...take down the working stiffs who can't spend that much on a bike

wait... are you being sarcastic?

um... if you're standing up, and you're elbows are bent so it makes it hard to pull up then you know.

I dont know about an 05 AM/DJ1, but on my 04 DJ2 I can go a little under 65MM before the crown and arch get uncomfortably close. I am using spacers and cut springs.
