I just thrashed my rim at the race up at northstar this weekend. So i gotta build a new wheel. I was wondering though... I have the same stock specialized 'stout' 20mm hub up front that came with the bike when i bought it back in 2001. Its never given me any trouble, but it is three years old. shouold i just buy a new hub while i'm at it or should i be good to go for a while with this same hub. ???

It is fine. The only reason I would get a hub is if you can get a prebuilt wheel around the same price. Labor $25-35 spokes $20 rim $???

I absolutely love the Specialized 20mm Stout front hubs.

Why? Because they're manufactured for Specialized by DT Hugi.

They're rebadged DT Hugi's bro. I've been running one for a long time now also, with NO issues. I've just re-greased the bearings a few times... and it makes em' last longer.

The Stout hubs are great, last long, and are built really well.

I say keep it. It's the equivelant of a $100+ DT Hugi... so you might as well enjoy your smoooothness.
