i'm helping a friend out with a new bike and her limit is about $1200. so of course the motos are on the list. i'm trying to steer her to steel, probably more my bias, since the trails around here are kinda rocky, with lots of baby heads and it can get pretty jarring after awhile. my last Al bike was 10 years ago when they were all stiff as rumored. i know that doesn't have to be the case but i'm not so sure about these.

how comfortable are your motos? are they really stiff? too stiff? not stiff at all? i

The Moto 29er FS is about to come out in that price range. I have FS Moto's they don't seem stiff.

she's not really interested in a FS. she want's something relatively light. she has to carry it up 3 flights of stairs to her apartment, so weight is definitely an issue.

I have the Fantom 29ProSL. I put a Sette carbon post and some nice carbon bars on it, and it's not bad.

I think Moto is supposed to release their steel 29er sometime soon, also.

Make sure whatever is picked can accept a 2.4" rear tire .
