what about the question, what does happen to the fork if you keep bottoming it? anything?
youll most likely eventually break something since marz dont have any bottom out bumpers that i know of so it just ends. nothing to cushion whatever hits against eachother.

well obviously metal on metal contact may lead to something bad. Its like asking what repeated drops do to a frame....well, it gradually wears it out.

I'd rather he fix the problem than simply crapshoot on fluffy internet responses....
its doesnt seem to hurt it. it makes a thunk noise but it hasnt started to ride diff.

btw i dont do drops that much just like every 3 or so rides

oh ok, i thought you meant it was more consistant. 'Kissing' is ok, but hard repeated hits could potentially damage your lowers.

although i would still add a bit of oil and keep the bottom outs for mistakes, not your regular scheduled riding.
yeah...when i first got my Haro 8.3 from my LBS i took it out and the DJ2 the plusher than all getout. untill i hit a maybe 4 foot drop and just bottomed it hard. freaked me out and i took it back to the shop. they put some more oil and air in it and now it only bottoms out on 6 foot to flat. and there if i land right it only kisses it. but the shock is stupid on rocky DH rides around where i live. rock gardens everywhere and it just locks up. but...no money for a z1 so...in stuck with it for the rest of the year. oh well

well ya, of course...... I was wondering the same thing, since Ive had mine re-sprung and all, Ive bottmed it several more times now. I think it needs about 5mm more oil.
I have had issues with the DJ2. I replaced mine with a Z-150 (like I keep saying :D).

There is a built in solution, but there is a trade off:

Solution: buy a shock pump and use the positive air preload, this will make it stiffer. I guarantee you won't bottom that out (unless you are doing like 6' to flat, which is bad anyway, unless you have the trials thing down).

Downside: it will be even worse on trails.
i bottomed out my boxxer a few times too many and the bottom out bumper got stuck in some valve and made the fork not work at all. i had to compleatly take it apart and get a new bumper from rockshox. it took them about 2-3 weeks to get it to me. 2-3 weeks of no riding, i thought i was going to die
Hard bottom outs...add more oil. Every now and again soft bottom outs leave alone
