How are the Colo Springs trails looking

Drove through last weekend and the south side of town didn't look too snowy.

Wondering how things are looking in the Cheyenne Canyon area. Stratton, Chutes, anything above Gold Camp looking like it wants to see some knobby tires?

Most shady and north facing areas have patches of packed snow and some ice.

Yup, I rode chutes -> gold camp road -> middle columbine last Saturday, and things weren't too bad except for a few spots on lower columbine.
ride the lower stuff when things are frozen and it is all good. buckhorn and jacks down to high drive is ridable. past high dr jacks is snowed in, just up there last night.
Palmer is still a no-go. Pretty much everywhere I ran today featured a mudpit where the eager beavers had already torn stuff up.
Wondering if these warmer temps are going to start melting things out and make it really sloppy for the weekend.

Palmer seems like an obvious no-go
I was stoopid today

And it didn't suck.

Just to say it again, the earlier you ride the better off the trails will be.
that bodes well for the weekend

Good to know. may need to get off my arse and ride early tomorrow.

Nice to see you last Sunday, Joe. Pueblo was better than I expected.
What time tomorrow

I am able to ride during the day.
Cryptic info on purpose...=>

Pretty amazing that some upper trails are rideable in the usually bleak mid January:

stoopid - decent conditions, some frequent packed snow sections, one long muddy spot
black pearl - not bad for mid winter, frequent packed snow, a few icy patches
flow dog - good conditions, mostly dry with a few snow sections, couple of muddy spots
flying dog - decent conditions, drier up high, snow and some mud sections down low
burn zone - mostly dry with one short snow and mud section, snow up high in the trees
upper stoopid, limbaugh, mule - out for season
lower trails - icy, packed snow and lots of muddy sections, so ride early please (or real late)!

Amazingly, upper stoopid was rideable this morning when Joe and I got out there. A small amount of downhill pedaling thru snow, but no big deal.
So Palmer or Cheyenne? Which one is looking better for a mid morning ride?

If anybody is heading out to either let me know. Would be game for connecting.
Watch out for ICE

Trail was in great shape but man were those Stream crossings something:madman:

Had to remind myself, take your hand off the front brake;)

Thanks for hitting it up this morning, Sunday?

That one creek crossing (that you wheelied across) was way sketchy. I had a hard time walking it...

Not sure on Sunday. Can you PM your email addr to me, so I can include you on various ride emails? Thanks...

Mid morning is already too late for Palmer. Cheyenne should be rideable all day.
Anyone have recent trail conditions for Falcon Trail at the AFA? Went to Pueblo (2) weeks ago and Cheyenne Mtn State Park last week so looking for something else ridable and 'relatively' dry in the Springs area besides the Santa Fe Trail.

I rode the lower portion (Fire Station to B52 spur) a few days ago. Pretty much what you would expect; dry on south facing slopes, packed snow and ice on the north faces. It was all rideable, but with the warm weather we have been having I would expect more and more ice.
