Has anyone riden from Horseshoe Dam around the east side of HS Lake to Sheeps bridge recently? I recall reading about this ride in Paul's guidebook years ago and I am planning this as a group ride after New Years Day. I am looking for directions, distance, maps, trail conditions etc to plan for the ride.

Appreciate any help.

Yup, this is indeed a great ride to a remote area with a cool history. To get there take Pima Rd to the end, right on Cave Creek Rd. to Bartlett Dam Rd. Be sure to stop at the Tonto ranger station and pick up a Tonto parking pass, at the NE corner of this intersection. Take left on Horseshoe Dam Rd, follow to the end and park in the high lot near the dam.

You'll find an entrance that goes under the spillway of the dam to the other side. Take the road around the mountain (Horseshoe Lake Rd), staying left at three intersections. Take the next left up a steep hill and continue for about 8 miles to the bridge. Hot springs await on the south side of the bridge :)
