Hope XC hubs on a trail bike?

Hey guys. I'm planning to get a new wheelset, and I have already decided on the Syncros DS 28 rims (for use with 2.4" tires), but havn't decided on hubs yet. My question is, will the Hope XC hubs hold up to some rough, rocky trail riding with some smallish drops involved? Biggest drops would be, maybe 3-4 feet or so to flat, or something more than that if there is a transition (whatever my better judgment tells me).
I was thinking about the Hope Bulb hubs, but I don't really foresee using a thru axle fork on this bike at any point in the future, and it seems like adding the extra piece to fit regular skewers couldn't possibly add any rigidity. \

So, what do you think?

Another thing I'm wondering about... The rear hub I have on my bike right now doesn't seem to have very many engagement points. It often makes a loud clunk when I first start pedalling, when it engages. The hubs on there now are some cheap Formula hubs. Do you think I will experience anything like this with the Hope XC? I also read somewhere that the Bulb has more engagement points. Is this true?

I've read on a couple of threads (including my own) that the Bulb has more engagement points. Can't say I've noticed any real clunking from my DaBombs, but I've just ordered some XCs so I'll let you know how they feel next week...

That said, I'd go with Bulbs if you've got the cash for them. There's no real weight penalty.
The bulb hubs actualy weigh less 180 Front and 375 rear compared to 200 and 385 grams of the xc.

Im going to get an xc front hub soon, and a hone rear, ( I want to do the hone deraileur)..

hope hubs rock because they are anodized.

Small correction: the Bulbs weigh 185 g with 20mm, and 215 g with QR. Not much in it really...
