Not to turn this into a weight weenie thread, but the Hope XC and Bulbs are considerably heavier than say, a mainstream XTR. I wouldn't compare it to the infamous American Classic disc hubs, but the Hope line is so-so in terms of weight (but superb in terms of quality and all that), right?

Not really. They are heavier than XTR Centerlock hubs but the Hope XC hubs are just over half the cost. The Hopes are also lighter than XT 6-bolt hubs. The Shimano pricing does include skewers. The Bulb is better compared to Saint than XTR.

Hope XC: 200g/385g
Hope Bulb: 180g/375g
XTR: 164/318 (without skewers)
XT: 246/432 (without skewers)

I prefer the cartridge bearing of the Hopes. Generally easier to service all parts of the Hope, too.

I second that!

XT/Shimano are poo compared to the sealed bearing Hopes. It's nice being able to maintanance/grease your pawls without tools.

Hope hubs are awesome. Sealed bearings and if you get the Bulb, you can convert from std axle to 20mm axle. XTRs are still ball bearings. Obsolete IMHO.

You can also call Hope directly for parts. I like factory direct customer service, actually, they're the distributors, but still they're great.
