Does it work better than Headlock?

Cheeze(and other knowledgeable ones)
How does the Hope thingy compare to an Azonic Headlock (or similar) was thinking to skip the star fangled nut on the new bike. What do you use and why?

Thanks

Anyone know if the Hope works with 05 AM1?

My azonic head lock that I had on my Firefly doesn't fit my AM1. I think the steerer tube on the AM1 might have a smaller I.D. than my manitou.
Thanks,

i have a few headlocks but they require a pretty big bore at the lower end of the steerer to get the threaded piece in. The HL uses a long pass-through bolt which threads into a lower sleeve. It is very secure . More so than the little plugs which just use friction inside the steerer like the HD. If your headset comes loose sometimes the HL would be better. It is also much heavier (and not nearly as pretty). I had to mill the HL's lower plug down to fit into my Zokes. I used a file and grinder and such. PITA. The HL would NOT work in a Pike under any circumstances unless you drilled and threaded the steerer tube plug from 5mm to 6mm.

Just making sure, a Hope head doctor would fit my talas and my Pike and keep the whole thing tight, right?

I know it's a rather dumb question, but I wanna foolproof the decision.

None of these things keep the fork tight and secure under riding conditions. That is the job of the stem clamping onto the steerer tube. These things are just there to let you get the right tension on the headset until you tighten your stem.
