Here's the latest bike I've added to the flock. A late 80's Salsa Ala Carte, #SM317, Ross Shaffer confirmed its a '89. It has my typical build as Rumfpy would say ;) , most all NOS parts, XT 7 speed drivetrain, XT bottom bracket , XT seatpost , black XT M730/732 hubs on ano Ritchey Vantage rims, black XT M732 Cantilever brakes, Salsa roller stem, Titec Ti bars, WTB grips, Dia Compe SS5 brake levers, Turbo seat, Tange Switchblack forks, King headset, IRC Racer X1 Comp tires. Its a 17" frame and fits perfect  Still waiting on the Columbus Cromo OR frame decal. About the only thing I may change out are the cranks for some Cooks or Topline. I hope to get it dirty shortly and if its worthy it will get its own pedals :eekster:

That thing's hot, great resto as usual. Seriously though, you''ve put off mowing the lawn long enough.

I'm going for a meadow look ;)

One thing I really like about this frame is how Ross tig'd it. You cant even feel or see the welds, very nice workmanship:cool:
wow. that thing is the sweet. a local shop has a early 90's dark green one that they built up with a mix of NOS parts and some new stuff. Your photos make me wanna pick it up and redo it with entirely period specific stuff!

Great build.......how did you get a hold of that seat post ?
The XT seatpost came with the frame :D

looks like road kill. i love it.
I was gonna call that paint job "shotgun blast" but I think I like "road kill" better :yesnod:
Nice bike, but must be hard to ride without pedals. Seriously, put some pedals on and ride!

I usually mount clipless pedals befor I ride :skep: I have 5 or 6 sets that get put on the bike's I'm currently riding. Too cheap to get all my bikes pedals:eek:
Nice, nice...I noticed that my Tange Switchblades crowns doesn't seat flush on the bottom of the head tube. I see yours also show a bigger space near the downtube. I was kinda curious why mine looked askewed.
If you look closely, the headset says Ritzy (not Ritchey) Light Alloy and Made in Japan on the other side. I bought the Ritzy with the fork. They were suggesting a NOS XTR 1 inch threaded but it cost just about what I paid for the NOS Tange Switchblade:rolleyes:

Like the Bontrager fork, the offset is set into the sterrer coming out of the fork crown. Not sure what that angle is but thats how it looks :skep:
Love your work Ken, seriously impressive. I would change out the King headset for a no-logo or perhaps an all different one perhaps.
Another winner KB.

That looks like it may have been a pretty spendy paint job on that thing! Who did the work? ;)

...and yes, I could have spec'ed that out for you with hardly an upuwards glance. Way to deviate with the CB cranks. :D

Haha, I hear ya. If I had that many bikes, I think I'd have trouble finding pedals for each and every one.
Nice Ken! We just might have a flock of Salsa's at Keyesville next year! :)
Yes, we'll have a Salsafest, I'll bring the chips. Even Rumpfy can join in if he completes his Salsa by then, :ciappa:
Not to worry Noah, just fly out and we'll have a bike for you. I dont think anybody has 2 Salsa's, not even Dave! :eekster: but there's plenty of other bike's available, I'm sure sombody must have an early Huffy for you;)
