Actually it appears that the Rush/Prophet rear suspension design was modeled after this early 90's Mantis Pro Floater, who would have thought?

Wow, a Pro-Floater!

That my friends is a Mantis Pro-Floater from the early 90's, with Alaskan made Sno-Cat SL rims. They are great for snow riding. The SL is the drilling of material from between the spokes. I had a set, and used reflective harness tape as a rim strip. They lit up when hit with headlights.

Wow. Talk about some serious similarities. The Pro Floater must have been a little ahead of it's time.

Reviews of that bike are what started me thinking about FS. A classic for sure.

It looks similar but is different. Cannondales pivot at the rear shockmount, the profloater pivots at the chainstay/seatstay join and has a rigid 'strut' shockmount. At a guess the Cannondale would offer a greater falling rate as the suspension compresses but not sure without calcs.
