In a roundabout sorta way. The warehouse next to ours is a bingo hall, and they have a smoking area, where the players who smoke play. Needless to say, the smoke & stench drifts into our building thru the cracks, so when I open the door, it's like *WHEW!* :madmax:

Not only does our furniture reek, but that second-hand smoke can't be good for me.

What should I do- contact OSHA?

Anyone dealt with something like this before?

Thanks, *coff*

I would kindly ask the bingo hall owners if they can ask their smoking players to maintain a respectful distance from the building when smoking.
Maybe I didn't make myself clear- they have 2 separate rooms- one where the nonsmokers play, and the other, where the smokers play. This is in California- is this legal, I wonder?

Smoke them instead!

Slap one of these on your bike, ride in at full tilt, hollaring, "Smoke This!":D

Seriously though, I'd bet there are some regulations about this in your area. Even many apartments and other business building issues have required no exchange of air from a smoking environment into other occupied areas. Even here in ******* Texas, smokers had to move at least 20 feet from the front the door of any public or private business that has access for any employees or the public to avoid having to inhale their smoke as you go in and out. Check with your local city attorney to see what options there are. I don't hate smokers...except the ones in Waterworld, of course:D ...but I hate their smoke when it gets all in my space.

Sorry I don't know what legal recourse you have. Any chance you could get your employer to improve the ventilation?

The nearest city to my home has banned smoking in most places, including bars. But the bingo hall owned by the local Indian tribe which was built in the next township is not in the same jurisdiction. I suspect that even if they were, the local tobacco regulations wouldn't apply.

I took my wife there for New Year's Eve, and the whole place reeked of tobacco smoke. After a while we did too.

Normally I'd not return, but my wife won a few bucks. She got lucky. Then, much later, I did too! Happy New Year!

Second hand smoke never killed anyone. Don't be a *****. Caulk the joints in the wall.
My farts have never killed anyone either, but...well...you see the problem.:D

Knowing the unbelieveable ability of cigarette smoke to permeate just about any structure, I doubt caulking would do the job. Any attempt at caulking or sealing out the smoke should be on the Bingo Hall's nickel.

You are getting a taste of what the Vegas valley is like.
Everywhere you go, there is smoke.
They finally outlawed smoking in restaurants and drug stores.
Yes that's right, drug stores. They had mini casinos in them with smokers.
It was real fun, when I got a bout of bronchitis and had to go to the local CVS or Longs.
There is an unbelievable stench, in front of all grocery stores and mall entrances.
Second hand smoke sucks. I get the "black crud" when I go to the strip to see a show, even if I'm only there a couple of hours.
After living here for 5 years, I have also learned to associate smoking with infidelity, alcoholism, drug use, garbage dumping persons, gambling.

If you went over there and farted like a sumb!tch...you know, just farted and farted and farted the smokers would probably get offended and...I dunno, there's a moral in here but I don't know how to phrase it so a smoker could understand. I used to work with a smoker (I hate cigarettes) and when I'd ask her to put it out she'd equate smoking being annoying like someone popping their gum is annoying. Clueless and stupid she was. But aren't all smokers?

are they smoking weed?
Finch would be asking about how to design an air induction fan system to bring that smoke into his place instead...or maybe he'd just spend all his time playing bingo.

Claim you're allergic to second hand smoke, start calling in sick and leaving early until you're fired. Then file a lawsuit for improper termination, claim unemployment and start the process of collecting disability. You deserve it after the hell your employer and their landlord have put you through. Might take a little medical marjuana to help with the stress

I say quit being a jerk. People do stuff all the time that we don't like, but in America everyone is free to doo things even if someone else doesn't agree with it.Quit your whinning and moaning.

This is the equivelent of people who walk on trails complaining about mountain bikers. I don't think more laws restricting us of our freedom is really the answer.

Yes you might not like the smell of the smoke, but I don't like the way ceratin ethneticies smell, but i am not trying to make them illegal. As for smoke causing cancer, sure it does but you are not going to get cancer from second hand smoke because you do not breath in enough of it. It is like saying you are going to drown in 3 inches of water.

Quit being a baby and find a solution that works for you, and doesn't restrict people's freedoms.
