Does this video get anyone else going or is it just me? I hate it when motorised vehicles find their way onto trails we frequent (mainly due to the damage they cause) and this is a good example of why. I know that not all four wheel riders do this kind of sh!t and I'm also sure there are a number of 4 wheel folks who would be just as annoyed by this video as I am but good God man! WTF is this guy's problem? His buddy's should have set him straight as far as I'm concerned. Now they ALL have to deal with that crap every time they ride there. Of course they'll probably just bush whack a new trail around it......... [edit] They already have.......

Dude that's what four wheeling is all about, I love hitting the mud puddles. Most people go out of their way to hit a mud puddle, not go around it. Also, how is this mountain bike related?

LOL...........Dude, I agree, as with bikes, you don't go around mud but, with your 4 wheeler, you must agree that there is definitely a way to go through it and this ain't it. If you think, as a four wheel rider yourself, that this is cool than I'd love to be next to the trail when you come flying through that section unaware of the 3 foot deep hole ahead. Hopefully you don't kill yourself. Don't get mad though, 'cause it's fun right?

As far as what it has to do with mtbing........well, nothing directly, hence the reason for posting it in the "General Discussion" forum. Some of us however have endured the ravages of four wheeled idiots (again not all are) on trails and it relates in that sense I guess. How the hell would you ride your mtb through that?

Cheers,
Ska!

It's all about destroying trails and ruining public wooded areas for everyone else? That's fantastic.

Sadly I know all about this dumb ass behavior, living in Mississippi. It's rampant around here.

Yeah, there is a way to get through that - not with that 4 wheeler. That thing has 2 wheel drive and is meant more for racing than mud flinging. If I was driving that thing I would most definitely go around that. However, if I was riding a four wheel drive ATV then I would kick that puddle's ass

An excellent example of tiny-minded people who can't appreciate that their banal and pointless actions have a negative impact on other poeple. Without considerable time and effort - none of which will come from the maroons on the ATVs, I'm sure - that forest trail is now permanently ruined for all vehicles.

How do you know that isn't on private property? ATV park?

Some people enjoy that, some don't. Being critical of them is no different than the people that want to restrict cycling.

Then how come all four wheels were spinning when I watched it ? :skep:

I'm not fond of the four-square mealers, though if it's a dedicated fsm/atv track, who cares?

Considering that the video tag says "Some fun in the Swedish woods", it sounds more like public land.
Many of the ATV crowd does crap like that on public land. It's not uncommon at all.

If you don't see the difference between people *****ing at MTBers and us complaining about these ATV knobs then you are just as ignorant as they are.

In the end Blue Ribbon Coalition is probably a better friend to MTBers than the Sierra Club and Wilderness Coalition.

Get them kicked off the public lands and your sorry ass on a bike is next, that is my point. The envirojerkwads that would take 4 wheelers off the trail will take you off just the same. They will not be happy until NOT ONE human is in the woods on anything but bare feet, so go ahead and stand with them if you want. I am smarter than that.

I don't condone destroying public lands or private lands for that matter but it pretty much looked like there was a fairly large frozen over hole in the middle of the trail before he got in it. He didn't help matters any but just like in the mtn bike world going around only makes the trail wider right. Didn't look like they much of a choice if they wanted to continue on down the trail. If it was not for the ice he probably would have made it across much easier.

I knew someone was going to play the "private land" card.

I know several people (some I work with and some are family) who own substantial chunks of land and what I know about them, and probably 99.9% of other folks who do, is that they understand what they have and respect what they have. They have great pride in it and protect it in any way they can. I also know that if this was done on their property they would absolutely loose it. Do they ride 4 wheelers? Hell yeah. Is there mud? Sometimes. Do they ever get stuck? Absolutely. Do they beat the sh!t out of a mud hole and destroy the place? Hell no.

To be clear, I don't want to get people thinking I'm against 4 wheelers because I'm not; I'm just dead against THIS type of behaviour. It's stupid. Whether you're being irresponsible on a 4 wheeler, mtb, enduro or while hiking doesn't mater. It's stupid.

The proper way to get through brutally deep holes like this is to track in SLOWLY, get a friend on the other side to hook you up, and then winch(sp) your way out SLOWLY. At least that way you won't make the hole another foot deeper and who knows how much wider, uneven and freaking dangerous. Come on! You must agree there.......seriously.

In response to someone saying they had no choice but to go through it, note in the video right off the start that there is clearly a bike already on the other side and at 55 seconds in you can clearly see the "new" trail already cut. Damage is done. Sadly it's only a matter of time before that entire area is a 5 foot deep pit of impassable gumbo.

As far as being an ATV park..........well, to me, what he has done is equivalent to going to your local pump track and lopping the top off one of the jumps or throwing a log across one of the berms. Throws the entire thing off.

good god do you people not have lives this is hilarious and obviously none of you have ever bin off-road in any kind of 4x4, quad or atv. what is so wrong with this even if it is public property some public property is open to this as long as it is not on or bike trails who cares.
The reason these places get shut down is not for the ruts and mud holes they shut down because people sew when they get hurt.
