iam curently building my first ss, and i need to know if i can use my current crank that is on the bike. i was planning to use the middle chainring only, but after removing the 3rd chainring when i tried to bolt up the middle on again the bolt was to long and couldnt tighten it all the way. any suggestions on how to fix this.

Crank is fine. You need to get shorter BMX style chainring bolts, or buy a chainring guard that takes the place of the outer chainring.

Example of Chainring guard (you need to make sure the Bolt Circle Diameter of the one you buy matches your crank)
