Hi fellows, could you please assist me on what's the good rear shock upgrade for my wife's 06 Iron Horse Aniki 24"? Rear shock size is 9"x.2.5" for the stock and I am wondering what other sizes I could fit to get more travel and also don't have a lot of money to spend for a rear shock.

Thanks

changing the shock will give you different geometry of the bike....it will raise the bottom bracket and steepen the head angle (worst turning charactristics...better to buy a new frame and swap parts

again, as usual, you are wrong. keeping the same I2I will change nothing geometry wise. a longer stroke will increase travel where a shorter stroke will decrease travel. you will have to play with spring rates to achieve the proper sag. you may need a slightly softer spring with a longer stroke and a stiffer one with the shorter stroke...

most companies offer 9"x3" so you you have a lot of options there. not sure how much travel youll get but it will definitely be more. just cycle the suspension with out the shock to see if youll have any clearance issues with the extra travel.
