I'm going the use the Surly SS rear hub but I was wondering if anyone made the rear sprocket out of Al instead of steel. Seems like a no brainer part to save some weight.

Al will wear quickly.

Try Ti or suck up the weight

Surly hubs are thread-on. You'll need a freewheel. They do not come in Al. If you want to save weight, don't get a Surly hub or a thread-on hub.
