Hi all!
I have some old wheels, that I'm trying to rebuild, ordered new bearings and trying to figure out how to remove the free hub. The normal 10mm hex key is too small. If I look inside I can see something, but it looks like it has more flat spots than a normal hex.

However inside the free hub it has two notches.

Any suggestions on how to remove the free hub? Spinergy didn't know and just said these are 20+ years old.... Rim brakes.

I thought they were a Shimano FHB, so, 1o, through the front side.

Plainly not, so I'd then pivot to a 12 mm, coming in from the back side.

If so, put the wrench in a bench vice, long end pointing up, and put the wheel onto it.

Spin wheel to remove...

Thank you for this.
Just to confirm with the free hub pointed up. Clockwise or counter-clockwise to remove?
