Hi and thanks for looking. I'm new at this MTB stuff- haven't ridden since the old days of flying my Supergoose over 55gal. drums and other things rusting and abandoned. I've sorely missed it. After riding an old Nishiki for a while I just bid highest on a GT Backwoods w/ upgrades. Unlike the Supergoose days, I now have a JOB - and the GT will take me there quite often. I'm hoping to get some good advice on street tires in the 1.9' range (+ or -). This summer Michigan has been wet, so along with low resistance I'll want something that grips in the rain. I've read reviews of the Geax Streetrunner & Speclzd Crossroads EX. Any takers? Any other ideas?

Also, what light/strong wheel-rim stuff should I look at to switch to dirt/ woods riding without breaking the bank?

THANKYOU.

I'd recommend something a little thinner. I've used 1.95 Tioga City Slickers; a helluva lot of weight for a tire used for commuting. About a year and a half ago I decided on something a little smaller. Went with 1.2 Hutchinson Top Slicks, and dropped about 400-500 grams of rotating weight, and probably 50 grams a tire with new tubes.

I have a pair of Kenda Kwest 1.5 dor $15 that will fit the bill.

They have a inverted tread that handles water decently and roll pretty smooth.

e-mail me if youi want them.
