Hello all. I need some help, deciding what rims to choose for my project bike. I am (obviously) new to MTBR.com, but have been riding bikes for years, so I know a fair deal.

Now, I am building up a fully rigid singlespeed. I have my hubs sorted (Chris King ISO, and ISO Singlespeed), and need a good quality, strong set of rims to lace onto them. I'm a heavy guy, about 190lbs, and tend to thrash my bikes, even when I'm going easy. So, any suggestions?

what kind of riding do you do? XC? AM? DJ? Downhill?

I'll throw in a vote for Mavic 717/719/729

With the width dependent on what kind of riding you do and the tire width you want to go with.

I run mavic 729 hoops with 2.3" Conti's off-road and 2.5" hookworms on road. The wheels have been absolutely bombproof. I go about 180 (probably 190 with gear) and am not the smoothest rider.
