i know that this is a commonly asked question but everyones opinions differ. i just started riding mountain bikes in january of this year and i just bought a khs full suspension to see if i liked mtb'ing. now i am hooked and i want to upgrade from my rig right now. i want to get into free riding and downhill, and i want to know if i should get a ht, or a full suspension. i DONT have any money really and with a budget of about 900 i want to know if i can get a good ht. and will i REALLY feel a big difference doing 4-7 foot droops into tranny with a ht.

thanks

900 is not a small amount of change, so it all depends how you want to spend it.
you could do a good hardtail frame and some key component upgrades if you wanted.
how is your bike spec'ed now?

you are definitely going to feel the difference coming from a fully to dropping on a ht..

well see i have a bottom end khs from like 02'. i dont know what the name is and almost all of the parts are factory. so i was thinking about a frame, forks, and crank for 900. like i am not doing the biggest hits or anything. thanks for the help.

I reccomend either a giant stp, specilized p1 or 2 or a norco. I personnally ride a p3 with a dj 2 . And i have hit all the way up to a 15' drop and a 30' road gap and as long as there is a good tranny to land on i think hardtails are better. :D

all i can find for specialized ht's are like stump jumpers and rock hoppers, or whatever their actual names are, i cant find any p1 or p2's.
