Hi. I'm trying to replace the crankset on my old dynatech(90's rigid). The old cranks were shot. I want to keep the bike and build it as a trail bike(4130 frame).

Drive side of the BB:

The piece that looks like a washer on the BB looks like it can be taken off with a large spanner wrench.

I should be able to replace this with a Deore crankset or an SLX hollowtech right?

if you have english threads in the bb then yes

Thats square taper , you should be able to use Shimano outboard .

The only thing that matters is your bottom bracket shell. If it's English threaded (most likely) and 68 or 73mm wide then you can put on most cranks/bottom brackets on the market today, including Hollowtech.

Woah, the classy BB! I'm guessing it is a 7 speed rear, so you may have a hard time matching the rear end with the new cranksets. 7 speed has about 5mm narrower hub/axle than modern 9 speeds. Use thumb shifter on SLX? Mmm, you may want to give it a serious thought...

On the other hand, you can make a fantastic vintage SS with that.
