HELP..chris king 15mm ISO hub loose after each ride

5352 Views 8 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  shopcat_cycles
Hi Folks,

Pretty much after every ride, my rear king 15mm iso hub gets loose. :madman: I can feel little wiggle when I move the tires sideways. I can still hear the bee buzzing sound, and the hub/wheel has performed without issue. However, I am aftraid that I may be ruining my hub by riding it with little play on the hub.
I use to work on the regular iso hubs with 2 5 mm hex tool. However, on 15 mm hub, I cannot use any of my tools to tighten it.

I searched this forum for simlar issues, but could not find it.

Any type of help is appreciated.

thanks,

Are you talking about a rear hub or front hub? Also, how old is the hub? If it has less than 60 hours on it then refer to the service manual. I posted a page for you. All King hubs that have the lock ring to preload the bearings can be done with a 2.5mm hex.

Thank you for posting the image.
It is a rear hub that gets loose.
I have had this more than a year.
I will use 2.5 hex...and loosen the cone...hand tighten the bearings..then tighten the cone.
Lets see if that works.
This gets very frustrated at times.

After you adjust it to the correct preload you shouldn't have any problems. I have a few King wheel sets and with the newer one piece axle-collar system you do not have to remove the wheel to adjust the preload.
Hi Sir...would you please teach me how to preload? please. I just do not want to screw things up... :)

cool..cool...valid points...I will proceed accordingly..thanks for helping out.... :)
Sounds like you're not getting the proper amount of torque on the 2.5mm pinch bolt, after adjusting the bearing preload.
