So it seems like pretty much everyone at the EWS is running a full-face helmet. But I'm not seeing lightweight helmets on the backpacks. Is everyone just doing the climbs in the same full-face helmets? Or do the pros have people on their teams swap out their helmets at the bottom of each stage? Is that allowed?

EWS requires full-face in their rule book for most races. The upcoming EWS in Scotland is the only full-face optional event. It seems many of the top riders like Clementz/Graves do the entire event with only a full-face and you've got to remember you're not racing up the hills. Depending on the race, you may see more or less people with two helmets.

Most races, you can drop off a pack or extra helmet if you return to the pit area between stages but you can't hand stuff off to the team manager while out on course.

I will have an XC helmet with me for the Colorado event. Not going to deal with a FF for 20 miles of riding. I think they also require spine protection FYI.
