Hello everyone.
Im glad to post here, I am interested in 1800's velocipede's and the parts that we have come to
call vintage.

I own a 1898 Starley
and now also a couple of mad fresh safety's

I however am wondering what has happened to all those parts we used
in the mid to late nineties?
I used a steel drinking flask and rode around in a top hat
and I used to try to run any solid rubber tire I could find
I have had so many I cant list them all
and even some that Scottish guy Dunlop's pneumatic tires.

Im wondering what happened top all these cool products?
anyone remember spoon brakes? or mustash bars (bar shaped like a gentlemans facial hair)
or the 4 foot high front wheels?
(a wheel that had built in pedals)

Im interested in chatting with some of you
I am also heavy into phrenology (headbumps)
any info on where to get any of these type of items would be greatly appreciated.
thanks and I look forward to chatting with you all.

This is my ride when I go solo; I built her myself through the super fast mail order catalog forom Sears and Roebuck. I can build one for you too if you don't want to pay the typical $3.95 at the local Cyclery, Rx, and Whore Store, for about $1.98.

Stiff, yet vertically compliant. :D

I'm just hoping we have a visitor from the future, when everyone rides one of those industrial designer's concept bikes with no chain and mag-lev spokeless wheels.

Hello OldeVoyces,

Pleased to make your acquaintance. I am looking forward to discussing the accelerators of the "good olde days" with you, as all of the tads nowadays are only interested in "fixies"!
