My old bike has reached its end of life (http://dan.langille.org/2007/08/13/proflex-957-death-of-a-bike/) so I've been looking around. I'm 6ft, about 240 lbs. I need the bike before the end of August for the long weekend (delivery is a factor here). I'm planning to spend about $2000. I ride mostly cross country. I want full suspension and hydraulic disc brakes. I prefer simple swingarms with a single pivot point: easier maintenance, less chance of wobble.

So far, I've narrowed it down to the Santa Cruz Heckler with the D kit and the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp.

the Heckler is the tougher of the 2

The Yeti 575 looks good. The SRP of 2722.00 makes me guess it'll be about $2400 at a shop.

There are no dealers in FL. That makes it a little less likely that I'll be able to get one in time. And next to impossible to ride one before I buy. Hmmm...

Yesterday I drove about 150 miles to ride both bikes. These were the nearest shops that had them in stock. Although I was just riding around the parking lot and nearby alleys, I think I like the Heckler better.

The Stumpjumper has Avid Juicy 5 verus Avid Juicy 3 on the Heckler, but there's not much difference between those brakes.

I think I want to upgrade the rear shock to the Fox RP23 from the standard Fox Float R.

Heckler vs SX Trail

What do you guys think about a heavy built Heckler vs a specialized sx trail? both would have a fox dhx 3.0 coil on back and a fox 36 van rc2 up front, and I would want to keep the weight in the 30 or 35 lbs range. Also it has to cost under $2700, thats all I have saved up in the pig right now. Any info would be great!
