I own both bikes, headed to VT for a small MTB trip from Ohio. Kingdom Trail is on the ride list and wondering if anyone would recommend the RIP or the JET?

Why doncha take both and me too. I'll watch one of them while you go for a ride.

I took my 2008 Jet to KTA last year. It was fine on the Downing hill side, but on the rocks of Burke Mtn, the bike felt really flexy and could have used more travel. I'm sure the current Jet is stiffer, but I'm glad to have a Rip9 for this year's trip.

I'm not a very good climber, my JET is 3lbs lighter than my RIP. How would describe the climbing? I'm a spinner not a masher kind of rider.

I was there 2 weeks ago on my WFO and it was a blast! I would go with the RIP just because it will fly on the downhills, especially Sidewinder, Kitchel, Coronary, Tap and Die, etc. The trails are fairly smooth but well worn and you will appreciate the RIP on most trails. As for climbing it is typical VT switchbacks which allow you to keep your speed up as you ride up along the side of the mtn, spinning will be fine. The trails flow really well and they aren't too hard/technical so have fun. If you do ride other parts such as the Burke side or local trails which are harder you will appreciate the RIP.

Thanks for all the input, we are also riding Essex and Stowe. I think the RIP is my choice. Sad to leave the new JET behind because I just got it built up and want to put some time in the saddle.

You'd definitely have more fun on a RIP, especially on the Burke Mountain trails. Make sure you ride Dead Moose Alley, J-Bar and Burnham Down. The KT trails are fun, but pretty bombed out, I was up there last week on my Jet wishing I had my RIP.
While you're in Stowe, you should definitely check out the Waterbury Trails, and our showroom. I can get you pointed in the right direction for some of our fun, or maybe even sneak out and give you a tour.

Thanks George, just checked your website out, Saturday hours are likely not going to work for us, we like to roll earlier than 10am. If you have a recommended route for KT or Waterbury please email me
