I'm looking to do some brake swapping this winter on my bikes. I'm thinking of upgrading to the Hayes El Camino on my Kona Dawg and moving the Hayes HFX9 that are on the bike now to my hardtail.

I know that the El Camino are an upgrade from the HFX9s but how much of an upgrade are they? I'm basically a low intermediate XC rider in southern New York State...lots of hills, rocks, logs and roots. I'm not a down hill guy at all.

I'm debating whether the El Caminos are a worth while upgrade for me? Or should I save the money and throw on another set of the HFX9s on the hardtail?

Thanks in advance.

according to hayes' site
it'd be going from the middle of the line (the 9's)
to the top of the line (the caminos)

better braking is always worth the money (imo)
but i'd say only if you're finding the 9's to be insufficient for your needs
otherwise, it ain't broke don't fix it, right?
