I have a friend who needs a new wheelset, and I have one to sell him. He is running Hayes MX-1 brakes (I think) and my rotors are shimano xt 6-bolt. Size is 160, like the rotors he is using now. He wants to have two wheelsets so he can change road-mtn with ease. Will Shimano and Hayes play nicely together?

Eh, the Shimano rotors have a narrower braking path than the Hayes pads. The pads will sweep over the "arms" of the rotors. This will potentially lead to uneven pad wear among other problems.

Not so good then. i'll tell my mate to get the Hayes rotors and keep the shimano ones for myself. Thanks:thumbsup:
