I will have a 2021/2 Trail 429. I am looking for fenders to keep dirt, etc off the bike, me and suspension. But fenders that stay on and do not obstruct tire or suspension travel. Merry Christmas and happy new year.
Try investigating my Mudhugger suggestion. And that Fox looks short compared to the long Mucky. But no front fender that I know of will keep all of your legs clean.Thinking something that mounts to the seat stays may be much better?
Pics or it didn't happen. 😂you can make one custom by cutting up a gallon round water bottle-----cost a buck and you can drink the water to boot. Lots of folks I ride with have done this to good effect. Fun little project even if you then decide to buy something.
I use the Mudhugger FRX on multiple bikes including a Pivot, zip tied to the seat stays and one zip tie across the lower rear triangle. Good for 2.6 tires. I line it up with the bottom of the rear triangle to protect the linkage, so sometimes I have to cut a notch for the chain. I could use one about twice as long but they don't make it. I like the molded, curved design far better than the DIY option (which will never follow the curve of the tire).I put the FOX XL on the front and it is good but still get spray onto the bottom half of the down tube/bike and my lower legs. 2.4 tire up front has no interference. Wondering about a 2.6 and fitment/rubbing.
Still would like something that works well on the back, maybe with a 2.6 High Rolar 2 or similar. I tried the zefal that straps around the seat post, but it falls off all the time and does not stay in place. It swivels around.

This is for dust and rocks. It might not do well in heavy mud because of the clearance. Light mud seems ok.
