I'm sure some of us have sold a bike that we later wish we had kept. This happened to me last year after I reduced my bike inventory down to just 2: a full suspension and a gravel. The last bike to go was a steel 29+ single speed, and within a few months, I felt regret.

I began browsing for a replacement but found very little given the inventory shortage and the lack of interest by manufacturers to design frames around 29 plus. My other choice was to build a straight bar gravel/weight weenie/singlespeed. After completing a build-kit spreadsheet I just could not justify the expense. I decided to wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday and try to score some high end components on discount, or maybe a complete build. But no discounts were to be had, understandable but still disappointing.

On a whim I contacted the buyer of the 29+ just to see if they still had the bike and if they were enjoying it. Good news was they still had the bike and had ridden it sparingly. My timing was perfect as they wanted to unload it and offered to sell it back to me at a discount! I could not believe my luck and did not delay in picking it up. 🏃‍♂️

I spent the weekend stripping it down, detailing it, and even applied a couple of coats of carwax to the steel frame. :D It has been greased, torqued, and rolling on fresh rubber.

It is a great feeling to have it back home. Never again!

Not me, but my riding buddy bought a used Waltworks frame/fork 10 years ago. It was his primary SS MTB for several years until he succumbed to the lure of 29+ and slacker HTAs. Flash forward to earlier this year when my buddy was looking for a platform to build a monstercroSS, and he stumbled back on his old frame (a couple of owners and paint jobs later). He’s stoked.

Kudos on rescuing yours.

Friend of mine sold his purpose built endurance race mini moto a few years ago. Kinda regretted it, but life was too busy for him so he didn't have time to dwell on it. Then he ran across it on a for sale ad on a mini moto group that he created by someone else. He had no idea how many hands it went through but he bought it back. Spent a bunch of money bringing it back to full form, and we raced it 24 hours over this weekend. Happy ending (if you don't count losing the race, and finishing on a spare engine).

My first bike was a used Giant Trance. Then I got hit with the "I need more travel" bug and upgraded to a Canfield Balance. Started missing my Trance and realized I was overbiked 80% of the time. So I sold the Canfield and got a halfway bike, the Trance SX.

Sold my Trek Madone (backup road bike) early last year at the start of the pandemic. I was recovering from hip surgery and wouldn't be riding for a while. Advertised my Emonda (first string road bike), and sold it. My replacement bike kept getting pushed back, so I bought the Madone back. The road bike I ordered is still months out.

The problem with me is I don't sell or get rid of the bikes I luv riding, which could explain why I have six........
I hang on to them to long and they become more valuable to me then if I turn around and sell them.
