HARO Extreme X1 anyone?

Not much talk about this bike and well doesn't look like many people consider a Haro as a MTB Co. (more known for BMX) but at my LBS they have a 04 X1 on sale for $600. Its the last one and its in an army green color. They also have one more X3 in Black that is "sold" but the guy may back out the owner said. That one is a bit out of my price range even though it is a pretty good deal.

Anyway test rode the X1 and was impressed. The rear sus was a bit hard as was the front. I assume it will losen up with time. But everything else was great. Disc brakes stopped on a dime, smooth function, etc... but was curious what you guys thought. The owner told me if I wanted to buy it (in cash???) he'd make a better deal ($565). So I told him I would consider it.

Thoughts?

That is a pretty good deal. I'd say go for it.
my little nephew has one..same ugly green..its a strong bike..a bit heavy at 35lb
The Extreme X1 got good a good review from Mountain Bike UK. I think the X2 might be a better buy if you want more of a freeride bike. You get a 5" travel fork, Fox Vanilla R, 8" brake rotor, bashguard, and some other nicer stuff for $200 more (I think.)

I''ve been thinking about getting the Extreme X3 myself. It's about $1600-$1700US if I recall. I think it's the best deal out of the Extreme line if you have the budget.

I think Haro is starting to get more respect as a MTB company. Magazines have given positive reviews on their bikes.
i lost, it got sold yesterday. damn, oh well. the guy was trying to sell me the blue Specialized XC instead. But that one was $850 out the door. A lot more than what I wanted to spend! I wonder if I should sell my BMX bike to get a good mountain bike or just keep the one I have and see about getting a new one next spring. I feel like I'm rushing into buying a mountain bike. OH well, better luck next time...
I have no problem giving Haro my business as I have been riding their BMX bikes since 1985. I recently purchased a Haro XLS R5, and while it's not quite as heavy duty as the X series, it is more than adequate for me and my style of riding. The XLS series is just a Santa Cruz design (Haro purchased the patent rights for it) with a few Haro ideas added in. Very strong, and pretty light for a FS disc setup (under 31 lbs). It climbs and decends equally well. If something breaks on it, upgrade it with better stuff. It'll still come out less than the XLS R7 (about $1700).
Yeah the shop had a XLS R5 and R7 there. The guy was trying to get me to buy the R5 which I test rode and it was sweet. But again, a bit out of my price range. He wanted $1000 for it. He has 3 R7's but again that model is way out of my range. He said maybe in November if they do not sell he will discount them a lot. I did not get to test out the R7 because I knew if i did i would want it and pull out evil credit card!

But the R5 was nicer than the X1. Probably more suited for my riding also. And the guy did mention the Santa Cruz design as well. That's kinda cool.

I think I'm going to wait. I don't want to rush into something. Maybe I should save as much money until this fall or winter and purchase the MTB that I REALLY want. Yes?
Sounds good, waiting is a good idea... not only will you be able to save up some more, but you will be able to catch the sales when the 05 models come in. I'm been looking at a Jamis Dakar... you might want to check those out.
