A wider strait bar is the same distance to the saddle as a narrow bar, BUT if your grip is wider than your shoulder width, the wider bar will effectively make it feel like the bar is further away. But in inverse, depending on where the sweep begins, a wider bar may also bring your hands closer because of the greater length of back sweep.
