I am looking for a bar that is in the 800-820 mm range for width (780 is not wde enough) and also has backsweep in the 10-15 degree range. Either 31.8 or 35 mm clamp is fine. I can find either the width i am looking for or the backsweep but not both.
or if none exist or are available how about custom options? I hear Doom out of Albuquerque is good.
Salsa Rustler is an option. 800mm wide, 11 degree backsweep. Syntace and SQLab are known for making bars with more backsweep, but top out at 780mm wide.
I found a few more options. I actually have surley sunrise bars on a retro bike and didn’t realize how much backsweep they have. I am going to go for the whiskey bars unless i find something similar with a bit less rise soon.
There is an 780mm ergotec with 12 deg and I believe a 740mm with 16 deg. Here’s their catalog link
Bikeinn is a dealer among others.
I got the 12deg for me and 16 deg for a daughter. Both solid bars. The ‘level 6’ I got has a better finish. It was also more $.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. 820 feels so much better for me i am looking at either whiskey milhouse for 825 width and 16 degree backsweep or else custom. I find the 820 to be best as it compensates for some tight chest/shoulder issues i have developed. If my flexibility was better 800 would work but the (non-bike related/ repetitive use) injury compensation combined with my 188cm wingspan puts me on 820s. The goal of the backsweep is experimentation with the expectation of comfort and a slightly shorter ETT/ reach on a bike that is a tiny bit too long (i am also adding a shorter stem).
