Recently purchased a Borealis Carbon Handlebar. Went to put the grips on and they were a tight fit. Could only get them on so far so stopped.

Research indicates the grip area should measure 22.2mm. My caliper indicated 22.48mm on one side and 22.56mm on the other side.

Is there anything that I can do to make the grips slide on. Trying to make these work before sending back.

If you are using lockon grips they should slide on. If they don't you have an issue.

If they are a slide grips then use an air compressor or using a syringe inject water between them and the bar and pull. Or an air compressor works too.

As for installation.

I have to use a rubber mallet (or the palm of my hand) to lightly hammer some of my lock-on grips, the last inch or so. DMR Deathgrips in particular. Pretty sure that’s quite normal. There’s only rubber and plastic on the outer edge (no locking ring) so it doesn’t bother me any. The minor binding occurs at the ends of the grips, not near the inside locking ring.

For slide on grips, rubbing alcohol works great. Spray the bar and grip and slide on and it drys quickly with no residue. In the 80s people used hairspray as it stopped the grips from slipping. That and everyone had a bottle.

Rubbing alcohol for the win here... put a little in a small travel spray bottle and spray it on the handlebar and inside the grip... it'll slide on easily and after about 10 min it'll dry off and you will have a great fit. I keep a bottle like this as it works great to clean your brake calipers from time to time too!

Ergon. I have 3 different sets of Ergon grips and none of them would slide on easily. They would slide on about 1/4 of the portion of the grip and then stop. It got harder to slide on the more I tried.
Again, slide on lock on? If slide on, use the rubbing alcohol. If lock on, a big hammer (kidding).

Anyone remember using Aquanet to install grips? Ahh, those were the days.

This was hidden as sensitive content. LOL. That's a rather low bar for concern about offending....

Anyway, I would agree with others that lock on you really shouldn't be having that issue. Yikes for Borealis's manufacturing tolerances.
