Um... yeah. I wouldn't try to make a handlebar longer than it already is.
Personally I'd just buy a new handlebar that's the length I want.

I was also going to post the Control Tech bars. I DO have them and there a few things to note. Since it is an internal compression (like an old quill stem) you need to REALLY TIGHTEN it. Otherwise, yeah they slip. They also only fit bars with certain internal diameters, so if yours have a thicker tube wall, probably wont work.

Having said that, the only bikes I would use them on would be mellow riding. Like an urban/city bike. Which was my intention, the bars I mounted them on are too "narrow" for my MTB, but I could see using them on something else.

So another vote for get a new handlebar.

To add to this, given those internal compression comments, I would never even think about using these with carbon bar(s). But then again, I wouldn’t use them at all. Carbon, alloy, anything.

FWIW I have a bike that I use on mellow rides, no jumping or whatnot. I wanted those bars about 1cm wider per end so I left the single clamp lock-on grips outboard about 1cm from full insertion. I've used it for a few years like this and nothing catastrophic has happened yet. I fully accept the consequences if anything bad does come of it.

Pretty sure I have unintentionally ridden DMR Deathgrips hanging out beyond the bar ends a little. Sometimes they can be tight AF getting on. I would do this (for a half inch or so max) before I would use those extenders.

maybe you could install single clamp lock-on grips without pushing them on all the way.
I do exactly this, about 1/2" extension either side. Renthal Fatbar Lite, 165g, carbon. Bike gets used normally (for me), which I guess in modern speak would be "aggressive down country" (lol) inc a bit of trials and light jumping. No issues.

Cost of bar extensions: $30
Cost of fixing broken teeth: $3,000.

Look on your scarred and toothless face when you realized you could have purchased a set of quality aluminum bars in the width you wanted for $60: Priceless.
